Draft Logo Project

Idea Inspiration:
I decided to create a organization called “Run for Fun” which is related to my topic of running. For my inspiration, I decided to go create a person-like figure running through a banner with the words run and fun. To add creativity, I wanted the person running to have a form or figure of a four because it’s another way of representing the word for.

When I was first thinking about ideas of my logo, I thought of marathon runners which typically relates to my topic. This relates to my topic because my whole topic is running in general and marathon running is a form of running. The idea of running through the banner also comes from marathon running which is represented in my logo draft.

Design Process:
The whole principle of my logo is based on marathon running. From the person running  and the banner that’s ran through by the runners is represented. I also added a creative aspect of the design by making the form of the man running close to the number four. The significance of my design would be how uniform the logo looks and how it visually shows an image of a man running through a banner.

The design process went smoothly and certain parts were done more difficultly than it should. I started off tracing off my running man figure I created on my sketch with the pen tool. Having a reference to trace made it easier to do. Next, I separately designed each side of the banner which is pretty difficult to do. I created two rectangles for the most part, but towards the end I had to curve the edges to make seem like the figure was running through the banner. Then I added texts run and fun to finish of my design. The final step was added color to the design and thickening the strokes to make things stand out more.

Technical Detail
The tools I used were the pen tool, stroke, text tool, and the color palette.

A difficulty I faced was trying my best to matched the edges of my rectangles for my banner to the middle figure. In order to do this, I needed to take my time and focus, and not rush.

Sources and Material:
There were no outside material used to design my logo, but there were a few references that I used to help create my draft. For instance, I made a banner that is similar to the tutorials we were assigned to do for class. The idea of incorporating banners was big for me because it makes designs look more organize. The font I used was “Arial Rounded MT Bold” because I felt it was one of the few fonts that were simple but stood out the most. I also used the outline of a four to create the person running.

Feedback:

I received many constructive feedback from my peers, which has helped me creative my final design. There were comments about missing components of the images I used, especially towards the two illustrated figures. I decided to create a shadow for the girl runner because a person noticed the female runner not having one, making the image not consistent. People also recommended to make certain texts stand out more than others. In order to do this, I added extra text to fill space and the original headers (Hydration and Proper Attire) was shrank and the box color was changed to blue. The title was enlarged and the letters were spread out to represent the message of the design. I also changed the background to be more creative and complementary to the images.

Idea and Inspiration:

I created an informative poster as a way to inform the viewers about what’s needed to go running. I plan to showcase the specifics of what’s needed rather than broadly stating it. My project idea relates to my topic because people must know what’s essential for running or the things to have and do before running. Shoes and drinking water are the most basic things to know when preparing to run, but there will be times people will overlook these which will increase the risk of harm to the person during the run or in the future.

Design Process:

I felt that illustrations was more visually appealing than real images. I knew what I wanted to incorporate into the design because I’ve had experience with running in my past and I wanted to include what I’ve learned that could help convey my message. I included, a water bottle, shoes, and people running as a way to show that all you need  is to be properly hydrated and wear proper attire before running.

The design process was simple and quick. I used colors that popped to attract the viewers eyes, and I had a text to get the point across, certain text stood out more than others. For example, I had certain text boxes categorized by color and size of text. I also included a creative, but simple background to complement the images. Resizing images or text will give a different impression, like bigger sizes will stand out and smaller won’t.

Technical Detail:

I  collected free to use images , so I won’t have any copyright issues. These images all relate to running, shoes, water, and people running. People need shoes and water to run which is why there are people running on the side.

The content I brought seems to work together and wasn’t that difficult due to the simple and straightforward design.

Tools that I used were, the paint bucket, shape, brush, and text tools.

Throughout making the design, I haven’t faced any technical difficulties yet because everything was easy and simple to do.

I plan to create a informative poster showing the essentials needed to run or workout in general. As well as the right things to have when running.

Getting Back into Running

I was known as the person who always ran everyday, but like most students, homework and other extracurricular activities took away what I liked doing. Once the days started to pile up of me not running, I began to be lazy and didn’t want to run anymore. Before this happened, I enjoyed going outside or going to the gym to run. I’ve decided a change of mentality was needed and this would be the perfect time to do so.

Running has brought me closer to friends and family, and I feel that not going out to run or just excising in general is stressing me out. I used working out as a stress reliever because you’re either by yourself or with a couple of friends trying to get away from the stressful events.

I plan to film b-roll of myself and maybe a couple of my friends who workout at the gym. Photos will be taken at a park because I prefer more to be a outdoors runner rather than a treadmill runner. The gym will also be taken in consideration because I live near the student recreational center. The audio recordings will be done at home because I personally own a external microphone, making it easier for myself to record my voiceovers.

As of right now, I have a few creative ideas in mind for all for units. In unit 1 plan to create a info graph about the benefits running in order to encourage other students to start running. The logo design will have likely include a silhouette of a person running and a catchy company name or phrase. This unit isn’t new to me because back in high school I designed shirts for the schools cross country and track team. As for the video portion, I plan to tell a story between the two types of running, outdoors or indoors.

Inspiration:

This video just shows the difficulty an olympic runner had when he was a kid. It shows that the impossible is possible, and that there should be no excuses.

This video talks about tips for people who are starting to run. These tips are helpful for people who don’t know what to do at the start.

This info graph shows the statistics of running and how each category is essential for running. I plan to make something similar to this.
